A baby was born and did not wail,
That’s how he started his struggle of life.
That time and place
For a problem child it looked hard to get by.
Days in the town were gray and wasted.
Standard wounds from school - he collected all.
There are things a mother can’t help with
No matter how hard she tries.
Now he’s six feet tall and strong,
He don’t regret at all.
Though he leaves his past
He still recalls so much fun.
When the time for goodbye’s over
He can’t see through the rain of his eyes.
Another chapter’s begun and he hits it with a heart
Full of heartbreaking yellowed photographs.
Mum was hard to comfort.
When her son suffered she suffered twice.
She blamed herself for all the bad cards
Life dealt to her child.
When you couldn’t be there to save me
Was when I learned self-defense,
When you had nothing more to give me
Was when I learned how to take care of myself.
Mum, I’m six feet tall and strong!
I don’t regret at all!
Though I leave my past
I still recall so much fun!
When the time for goodbye’s over
I can’t see through the rain of my eyes.
Another chapter’s begun and I hit it with a heart
Full of heartbreaking, yellowed photographs.
